First Aid Merit Badge

First Aid Merit BadgeWe are excited to be offering the First Aid merit badge, an Eagle-required merit badge! Throughout the year, we anticipate offering several of these courses in the Northern Virginia area; all, being taught by Eagle Scouts who are registered merit badge counselors with the National Capital Area Council, BSA.

Scouts can COMPLETE the entire First Aid Merit Badge in just one day!
This class is taught by some of our local Council's most experienced medical professionals (who are also Eagle Scouts themselves), and is limited to the first 30 participants to sign up. Scouts should have all first aid requirements already completed for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks in order to participate - however this is not required as we do cover these requirements in class.

IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE MERIT BADGE: Scouts will need to come prepared with a BSA-approved first aid kit for your home to display and discuss its contents with the counselor. For Scouts who need one (and not a junk first aid kit from Target, for example), we offer a BSA-approved first aid kit for just $14.99, available here.

Parents are encouraged to stay for class and learn along with the Scouts - HOWEVER, the course is not open to any non-Scouting adults or youth (Sorry, BSA rules & regs apply).

Are there any classes to help with the First Aid merit badge this summer?

    • wildsafe August 23, 2017 at 6:25 PM

Hi, Maggie! YES! We just added one in September in Herndon, VA! 😀

    I love this.

What can not be covered in the class?

    • wildsafe September 17, 2017 at 11:18 AM

Requirements 2D & 7 cannot be done in class, although requirement 2D can be made at home and brought in to class to get it signed off. Requirement 7 requires that the Scout teach another Scout a first aid skill learned in class.

Hi, will you be offering another class anytime soon?

    • wildsafe April 16, 2018 at 3:18 PM

If a Troop or District would like to host a course, they are welcome to host one – however we do not offer this course without a Scout unit sponsoring it.
